Plain City, Utah Schools Guide

Plain City is one of the few Northern Utah towns with its own high school inside city limits. Most Plain City kids follow one simple path: Plain City Elementary, then Wahlquist Junior High in neighboring Farr West, then Fremont High, right here in town. Families also have nearby charter and private choices. All public schools here are part of Weber School District.

Parent FAQ

How do school boundaries work in Plain City?

Your home address decides your assigned public school. Plain City is in Weber School District, and most homes feed Plain City Elementary → Wahlquist Junior High → Fremont High. Some homes near the edges of town may be assigned to West Weber or Farr West Elementary instead. The district reviews boundaries as the area grows; for example, boundaries shifted when West Field High opened in 2024.

How do I check which school an address feeds?

Use Weber School District's Boundary Maps at wsd.net, or call the district at 801-476-7800. If you're buying a home, check the exact address before you write an offer. Don't rely on the school names in a listing, because those can be out of date. I'm always happy to look up an address for you.

Can my child attend a school outside our boundary?

Yes. Utah allows open enrollment. Weber School District takes early applications for the next school year each winter, and you apply directly to the school you want. Seats depend on space, and families usually drive their own kids, because buses generally aren't provided for out-of-boundary students. Charter schools have their own separate applications and lotteries.

How does school choice affect home values in Plain City?

Many buyers shop by school first, and homes in a well-regarded boundary tend to draw more interest. Plain City's high-rated elementary and in-town high school are part of its appeal. Because open enrollment and charters give families options beyond their assigned school, school choice here adds to a home's appeal rather than deciding its value alone. Location, lot size and condition still matter a great deal. If schools are a top priority for you, I'll help you narrow your search to the right boundary.
