Best Schools in North Ogden, Utah: A Parent's Guide for Families

by Dessa Wright

If you're moving to North Ogden with kids, schools are probably near the top of your list. The good news is that most of North Ogden's schools sit right inside the city, so many families are only a few minutes from their elementary school and junior high. Every home in North Ogden is part of Weber School District, and the city's high school is Weber High School in neighboring Pleasant View.

North Ogden also has something many cities don't: two dual language immersion programs. These are programs where students spend part of every school day learning in a second language. Families can start in Chinese (Mandarin) at Bates Elementary or in Spanish at Majestic Elementary and continue all the way through high school.

Here's a look at the schools serving North Ogden, and what I'd want to know as a parent before buying a home here.

Elementary Schools (K–6)

  • Bates Elementary (850 E 3100 N) is home to the Bison and North Ogden's Chinese immersion program. Students who start in Chinese can continue at North Ogden Junior High and Weber High.
  • Green Acres Elementary (640 E 1900 N) serves the south end of the city and offers a VEX IQ robotics program, a great fit for kids who like to build things, plus a Life Skills program.
  • Majestic Elementary (425 W 2550 N) is home to the Mountaineers, with Spanish immersion and a school choir.
  • North Ogden Elementary (530 E 2650 N) is home to the Eagles, a longtime neighborhood school just down the street from North Ogden Junior High.

Junior High Schools (7–9)

North Ogden is split between two junior highs, so this is the one to check closely for any home you're considering.

  • North Ogden Junior High (575 E 2900 N) is home to the Knights. It continues the Chinese immersion program and is a Utah "Purple Star" school, a state recognition for schools that support military families. That's worth knowing if you work at Hill Air Force Base, about 30 minutes away.
  • Orion Junior High (370 W 2000 N, Harrisville) is home to the Titans. It serves part of North Ogden and continues the Spanish immersion program, with band, drama, and career and technical classes.

High School (10–12)

  • Weber High School (430 W Weber High Dr, Pleasant View) is home to the Warriors. Weber High was founded in 1926 and is celebrating its 100th year. It carries both immersion programs through graduation, offers AP and concurrent enrollment classes (classes that earn college credit), and its DECA business club won state in 2025.

Charter and Choice Options Nearby

Charter schools are free public schools that any Utah family can apply to, usually through a lottery.

  • Maria Montessori Academy (K–9) is right here in North Ogden at 2505 N 200 E and uses the Montessori approach.
  • Other charter options within about 20 minutes: GreenWood Charter School in Harrisville (K–8), Venture Academy in Marriott-Slaterville (K–12), Ogden Preparatory Academy (preschool–9), DaVinci Academy in downtown Ogden (K–12), and NUAMES North, an early-college high school on the Weber State campus.
  • Private options: St. Joseph Catholic Elementary (preschool–8) and St. Joseph Catholic High School (9–12) in Ogden.

A Parent's Guide to North Ogden Schools

How do school boundaries work in North Ogden?

Weber School District assigns every address to one elementary school, one junior high and one high school. In North Ogden, the high school is the same for everyone (Weber High), but the elementary and junior high depend on which side of the city you live on. Two homes a few streets apart can go to different schools.

How can I check which schools a specific address feeds into?

Use the district's Boundary Maps page or bus stop locator, or call Weber School District at 801-476-7800. School names on real estate listings aren't always right, so I always confirm the schools with the district before my buyers write an offer.

Can my child attend a school outside our boundary?

Yes. Utah allows open enrollment. Weber School District's early window runs from November 15 through the first Friday in February, and you apply directly at the school you want. It depends on space, and parents provide transportation. Immersion programs have their own application, usually due in the spring.

Do schools affect home values in North Ogden?

They can. Some families search specifically for the Bates or Majestic immersion programs, and homes in popular school areas often draw more interest. Because open enrollment and charter schools give families choices, the boundary line isn't the whole story. When I help you price or buy a home, I look at actual recent sales instead of guessing.

Are there newer neighborhoods near these schools?

Yes. North Ogden has a mix of established ramblers and newer construction, including Hamlet Homes' Jordyn Park. If you're looking at a newer community, check its assigned schools with the district, since newer areas are where boundaries are most likely to be adjusted over time.
