Best Schools in Harrisville, Utah: A Parent's Guide for Families

by Dessa Wright

If you're thinking about moving to Harrisville, Utah, school is probably near the top of your list. Harrisville is a small, friendly city tucked between North Ogden, Pleasant View and Farr West, and it's served by Weber School District. Most Harrisville kids follow a simple path: Majestic Elementary or Pioneer Elementary, then Orion Junior High right here in town, then Weber High School in neighboring Pleasant View.

I'm Dessa Wright, a Realtor with Real Broker, and I've lived in Northern Utah for more than 40 years. I also teach Jazzercise at Harrisville Fitness, so Harrisville is part of my regular routine. This guide lists every school serving Harrisville and answers the questions parents ask me most.

Parent's Guide to Harrisville Schools

Which elementary school will my child attend?

It depends on the exact address. Most Harrisville homes are assigned to Majestic Elementary or Pioneer Elementary. Two homes a few streets apart can land in different schools, so always check the specific address (see below) before you fall in love with a house.

How do school boundaries work in Harrisville?

Weber School District draws a boundary, or attendance area, for every school. Your home's address decides which elementary, junior high and high school your child is assigned to. The district updates its boundary maps each school year, and boundaries can change as new neighborhoods are built and enrollment shifts, so it's worth checking the current year's map rather than relying on what a previous owner or neighbor remembers.

How can I check which schools a specific address feeds?

Weber School District offers two free tools:

If you're unsure, call the district office at 801-476-7800. When I'm working with a family, I check the boundaries for every home we look at so there are no surprises after closing.

Which junior high and high school serve Harrisville?

Harrisville students attend Orion Junior High (grades 7–9) in Harrisville, then Weber High School (grades 10–12) in Pleasant View. Weber High also serves Pleasant View, North Ogden and the Ogden Valley towns, so your kids will go to school with friends from all over the north end of the county.

Does Harrisville have a dual language immersion program?

Yes. Majestic Elementary offers Spanish dual language immersion, where students spend part of the school day learning in Spanish. The Spanish program continues at Orion Junior High and Weber High School, so a Harrisville student can stay in the program from elementary school through high school. Families apply through the district. Details and timelines are on Weber School District's Dual Language Immersion site.

Are charter schools an option?

Yes. GreenWood Charter School (K–8) is right on Highway 89 in Harrisville, Maria Montessori Academy (K–9) is a few minutes away at 2505 N 200 E, and Venture Academy (K–12) is a short drive south in Marriott-Slaterville. Charter schools often have waitlists, so apply early and check each school's website for its enrollment dates.

Can my child attend a different public school? (Open enrollment)

Yes. Utah allows open enrollment, which means you can ask to attend a Weber School District school outside your boundary. Here's how it works in Weber School District:

  • The early application window runs from November 15 through the first Friday in February for the next school year. You can apply later, too, but space may be tighter.
  • You submit the application to the school you want your child to attend.
  • Approval depends on whether that school has room in the grade, class or program.
  • The school lets you know in writing by March 31 or within six weeks, whichever is later.
  • If you're approved, you're responsible for driving your child to and from school, and your child stays at that school for the school year.

Open enrollment is never guaranteed, so if a certain school matters to you, it's smart to buy a home inside that school's boundary.

How do schools affect home values in Harrisville?

Schools are one of the first things many buyers filter by when they search for homes. A home inside the boundary a family wants can draw more interest, and more interest often helps a home sell faster. Harrisville's schools add something extra: Orion Junior High is right in town, Majestic Elementary offers Spanish immersion, and GreenWood Charter School is on Highway 89. When you sell, being able to tell buyers exactly which schools your home feeds is a real selling point. When you buy, knowing the boundaries protects your investment and your family's routine.
